David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (1972)

Post image

For me THE high water mark of Bowie’s whole career.

The whole album is basically all reflex in my brain. I know every note, every nuance, every lyric.

It wasn’t the first Bowie record I heard, that was Aladdin Sane, but it was and is the best Bowie record I ever heard.

This 2003 remix thankfully doesn’t mess with anything - it just allows the instruments some more breathing space. Those segues into each song are beyond perfect. Messing with those is like painting a frown on the Mona Lisa!

There’s possibly nothing in my entire collection that is as ageless as this masterpiece. The fact that my son Peter listened to this in his car on his wedding day speaks volumes.

I’ve waited what seems like an eternity to play this. I’ve just returned from a week away and within the first hour of being home I feel a real anticipation that turns into necessity, to get on with playing Bowie’s second record.
