Before my tastes became a little more eclectic and sophisticated, I was an Elton John obsessive.

This holds some fantastic memories and remains a cracking good record. It’s a great collection of brilliant songs that for consistency was never bettered on subsequent albums.

This new 2017 re-pressing just sounds fantastic.

Elton John - Caribou (1974)

Being sandwiched between “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy” doesn’t help. To me, “Caribou” it was just another great Elton John record which I enjoyed as much as the others.

Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection (1970)

From 1969’s “Empty Sky” to “1976’s “Blue Moves” (his last great record which I’ve only just began to appreciate), Elton John and Bernie Taupin produced 11 remarkable studio albums.
